Photo Session F.A.Q.
Q: I'd like some portraits taken of me/my fiance(e) & me/my family/my child/etc.. What could I expect from you?
☆ A: My style is primarily photojournalistic, so I'd like to spend some of the time just getting you/the subject relaxed and enjoying the time without my interfering (much) with poses or suggestions. Aside from that, we can have some fun with various poses. If there are any signs or "props" you'd like to bring along, we would definitely incorporate those. Feel free to bring a blank sign as I can add whatever text you'd like afterward. Other types of props that you might want to consider: a (picnic) blanket, umbrella, hats, wine glasses, toy guns, bubbles, sports gear...
An hour or two would be enough time, and mid-morning (8-11am) or later afternoon (4:30-7:45pm-ish) would be ideal, lighting-wise, though anywhere in between would work for me as well. You pick the location and I will meet you there! Want photos at the beach, a park, a garden, a playground, a restaurant, a favorite spot of yours? I'm in Thousand Oaks, but will travel wherever you'd like (up to 45 miles away), even 2 separate locations. If you're in the Santa Barbara or Orange County area, most everything aforementioned still applies, but there will be an extra $20 travel fee.
After the session, I will edit any photos that need it (any black & white, sepia or other conversions will also include their color counterpart) and drop off or mail the disc of images to you within a couple of days. You can expect at least 30-40 photos, potentially more.
Q: What should I/we wear for our photo shoot?
☆ A: I would suggest choosing colors that you feel complement you well and I would NOT suggest matching outfits (unless you're going for that look) if you're on the shoot with someone else. Wear what makes you comfortable and keep your location choice in mind. As a general "rule", deep reds, blues, greens, purples and oranges ("jewel tones") look great on just about anyone. :)
Also see my blog post about What To Wear.
Q: How much does a photo session cost?
☆ A: Please see my Rates page for my rates. If you do not see anything that fits within your budget, please contact me with a description of what you're looking for (time needed, type of photo session, location, etc.) and we can find a price that works! :)
Q: What type of payments do you accept?
☆ A: I accept cash (a receipt will be provided), checks or money orders, or electronic payment. Checks and money orders can be hand-delivered at time of shoot or mailed to:
Any payments made via electronic payment (Paypal or Google Checkout) over $50 are subject to a 3% processing fee.
For candid photos, Paypal is my primary method of accepted payment. This is a free third-party online service that allows you to pay securely via credit card or electronic check from your bank account. You do not need to sign up for an account in order to use the service. Please note that your personal information is not given to me, name and mailing address (if applicable) aside, and is completely confidential.
I also accept payment through Google Checkout.
Q. I'd like to pick up my print order. Can I do that?
☆ A. Orders can be picked up from me at but please schedule the pick-up ahead of time to ensure that everything will be ready.
Q. Do you have somewhere I can see feedback of your previous transactions? How about references?
☆ A. I was a seller on the site Etsy.com and you can feel free to look at my feedback HERE (user: crazystars). I can also provide references, if requested.
Q. Is it possible to buy Print Credit as a gift?
☆ A. Yes, absolutely! Print Credit for a bride & groom, new parents, etc. is available for a discounted rate to the gift giver. Please e-mail me for more information.Q. Will I be allowed to print photos from the disc you give me?
☆ A. Yes, absolutely! With any disc of high-resolution JPEGs comes the rights to print the images for personal and non-commercial use. I do retain the copyright to all images I take, however, as well as the right to use them for commercial and promotional use. If you'd like to share the photos I give you with websites, blogs, magazines, etc., please either use only watermarked photos (as can be found on my website's galleries) and/or be sure that I receive printed credit for my work in that publication.
